A HOME-educated 15-year-old is hoping to take his passion for the natural environment into the county’s classrooms after setting up Friends of the Earth Brecon and Guardians Powys groups.
Chap Patefield-Isacoff, from Aberyscir, is currently completing Open University courses and is three months into an environmental management qualification which will lead of a certificate of higher education.
His Earth Guardians group is part of worldwide network of children and young adults who campaign around schools in order to raise awareness about environmental issues, and he’s hoping to take that message to local pupils.
He said: "My mum has always encouraged me to take an interest in the environment. The environment is what keeps life going. It’s made up of the everyday things that people take for granted. Without it we would not have any life at all."
He already has some interest from local people and there are a few people from Llandrindod Wells already involved with the groups. He hope for his environmental groups is that together they will be able to solve the local environmental problems before going on to address global environmental issues.

The Brecon Friends of the Earth group will be showing a film on May 12 in the Bishop Bevan Hall Brecon. All are welcome to attend this event and Chap is keen to meet more people who share his interests.
