BRECON and District Mind organised their biggest Get Creative event to date.
This year’s festival, held in the Market Hall, celebrated creativity of all kinds. The event included numerous stalls with artists and local craftspeople selling and demonstrating their work in the fields of woodturning, haberdashery, paper weaving, knitting, crochet, photography and lots more.
In addition to the stalls there were also performances on the stage, including the fantastic local ‘Samba Brecon’ drum group. The event was pulled together by Mind’s volunteer coordinator, Matthew Sowerby.
Among those impressed by the event was Brecon’s mayor Cllr Ieuan Williams, who said: “As Mayor of Brecon I was more than pleased to be invited to the Brecon Mind Get Creative event in the market hall on Saturday, March 24.
“It was good to see a mix of traders and those offering an opportunity to try something different.
“Hopefully those who stopped to try something new will take it to the next level and continue with their new hobby or adventure”.
Welsh government education minister and Brecon and Radnorshire AM Kirsty Williams, who also attended, said: “Get Creative was an excellent event.
“It showed not only how much local talent we have in this area but also how supportive people are to the excellent work of Brecon & District Mind, an organisation I will always give as much support to as I can.”
