AN alcohol awareness event was held at the Army's Dering Lines camp and Soldiers were warned about the dangers and health issues associated with excess drinking.

The event at the camp was organised by Warrant Officer Shane Grimes and coincided with a wider alcohol awareness campaign across the Army.

Those attending the course saw presentations from Powys County Council's road safety unit, Dyfed Powys Police, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Public Health Wales and Powys drug and alcohol agency Kaleidoscope.

WO2 Grimes said: "PC Hayden Lavin informed me that six agencies were willing to present a drink driving campaign in the lead up to Christmas, so I decided to hold it at Dering Lines, enabling us to put the word out to a bigger audience."
