THE Christmas lights in Llandrindod Wells were switched on by Sheila Richards a former mayor of the town who took the plunge to set the festive season aglow.

She was accompanied by the town’s current mayor Cllr Jon Williams and Father Christmas on a stage especially set up for the occasion together with the mayoress Jo Williams and the deputy mayor Cllr Elaine Worgan.

The street was alive with side stalls and the rain did not dampen the spirits of those who turned out for the late-night shopping in the town.

The switching on of the lights followed a Christmassy parade from the town’s railway station to the main street where the lights were switched on. After the switch-on Father Christmas was besieged by children keen to deliver their reests for presents on Christmas Day.
