COUNTY Councillors Kelvyn Curry and David Evans were on hand to flag away John Bates at the start of the Nantmel Tractor Run which was organised by the Tractor Enthusiasts of Nantmel (TEN). Following on from the success of the inaugural run last year, the run was again raising funds in aid of Cancer Research UK. Starting from Cefnllyn Farm, Nantmel by kind permission of Alfred and Liz Lewis, with Liz being the local Rhayader Branch of Cancer Research UK chairperson.
The tractors varied in ages from vintage to modern, with participants being young and old and one even coming all the way from Ipswich, others came from Cheshire, the border counties of Shropshire and Herefordshire, as well as the three shires of Powys. They toured the communities of Nantmel, Abbey Cwm-Hir, Bwlch Y Sarnau, Pantydwr and St Harmon before returning to Cefnllyn. Once the tractors had parked up the raffle was drawn and everyone settled down for an evening barbeque provided by Dave Connelly ably assisted by Sue Williams.
Everybody agreed what a fantastic run it had been and the TEN group would like to thank everyone for their support and the donations received.
