HUSBAND and wife David and Val Morgans are brewing up a welcome as they open up their garden to festival-goers for charity.

The couple host an open garden at their home in Hay-on-Wye during the Hay Festival, which draws around a quarter of a million people to the town, to raise funds for the Parkinson’s UK charity.

David said: "It started as a cake and craft stall in the front garden and it's grown and grown since then and now fills the back garden as well."

Their open garden event has become one of the biggest fundraisers for the South Powys branch of Parkinson’s UK.

This year there will be craft stalls at the front of the house with wood work by wood turner David Leeton, who has Parkinson’s.

Val is the secretary of the South Powys Parkinson’s group and said: "We’ve been doing the tea garden over Hay festival for 10 years now. My husband David re-designed the back garden specifically for this purpose. It’s been a huge success, we have people returning year after year. The number of people we see is amazing."
