A Brecon woman has been given a community order and fined after admitting assaulting a man in Llandrindod Wells.

Abigail Kinghorn, 49, pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on September 3.

The court heard the offence took place at a property in Montpellier Park, Llandrindod Wells, on August 14, when Kinghorn assaulted Christopher Hicks.

Kinghorn was sentenced at Merthyr on October 1.

She was given a community order running until September 30, 2027, with a probation requirement.

The court also imposed a £100 fine, along with an £114 surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A collection order was made, with deductions from benefits set at £20 per month from October 29.

Kinghorn was also made subject to a restraining order lasting until September 30, 2028.

The order prevents her from contacting Mr Hicks directly or indirectly, except through the police to recover her property from his premises. She is also prohibited from entering any premises occupied by Mr Hicks as his usual residence and from posting information referring directly or indirectly to him on social media or the internet.
