A man from Llandrindod Wells has been disqualified from driving for 12 months after being found behind the wheel four times over the legal drug drive limit.

Phillip Hughes, 38, was stopped by police on the A481 at Builth Wells on February 25 this year, and arrested after failing a roadside test.

Hughes, who was driving a Mercedes van at the time, was found to have 240 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine, a compound of cocaine, in his blood.

Hughes admitted a charge of drug driving in court last week.

Llandrindod magistrates fined Hughes £300 and disqualified him for 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
