A Llandrindrod Wells man has been handed a 12-month driving ban and a fine for driving while over the alcohol breath limit.

Llandrindod Magistrates’ Court heard this week that Ashley James Jones, 27, of Cwmquarry, Llanddewi, was found to be driving over the limit on an unclassified road at Llanddewi on October 19 last year.

Jones had 50 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which exceeds the limit of 35 micrograms.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, was fined £400, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £160, as well as ordered to pay £135 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, although this could be reduced by three months if, by August 2 this year, he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.
