Crowds flocked to Llandrindod Wells to enjoy the jubilee celebrations in the sunshine on Thursday.

The town enjoyed a successful and joyful celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee on Thursday, June 2, which saw hundreds of people join the gathering in the town to celebrate her 70 years on the throne.

Bunting, hats, and union flags were all present at the celebration.

Llandrindod’s Fuelled by Cake hosted its Big Jubilee Lunch which appeared to viewers across the country on Good Morning Britain.

The Powys County Councillor for Llandrindod North, Jake Berriman said he had a “joyously exciting day” helping at the jubilee lunch.

He said: “The Cake Gang, including my wife Diana, were on-site at Middleton Street from about 5.30am this morning, ready to record live interviews with Good Morning Britain, showcasing the days events.

“By 10.3am, the scene was set with 456 place settings laid, and by 12pm guests were seated. The Llandrindod Wells Silver Band struck up and Angharad Hyde sang the national anthem beautifully in both English and Welsh.

“At one point, with all the helpers like myself and visitors, there must have been around 600 people in the street soaking up the atmosphere, dancing along with Gemma from Impelo and Laura Martin with her energetic dance moves.”

The incredible day finished with Llandrindod’s mayor Laurence Weerdmeester-Price thanked everyone involved with organising the successful celebration.

The Llandrindod Litter Pickers helped to clean the area after the event finished - by 4.30pm, it had been fully cleared.

Cllr Berriman said: “Town Mayor Laurence, finished the fantastic day of jubilation with thanks to Llandrindod Wells Town Council for sponsoring the event, to The Soup Team for organising everything, to the many local traders who gave generously, and to the volunteers for all their hard work.

“Just 11 hours after everything started, by 4.30, the street was cleared and picked clean by Llandod Litter and returned to normality.”
