Lottery winners have given a South Powys mental health charity’s wellbeing centre a makeover, led by Wales’ double National Lottery millionaire Faye Stevenson-Davies.
The group of winners visited South Powys Mind in Brecon to help refresh the charity’s Wellbeing Centre, with painting, furniture building and interior updates carried out throughout a hot day.
Faye Stevenson-Davies, who celebrated a second £1m National Lottery win with her husband Richard in December 2025, said supporting the charity was a priority after her wins.
“Winning £1m on Lotto on top of our previous £1m win has been incredible,” she said. “Bringing some of our fellow lucky winners together at a place that means so much to me is the icing on the cake of a phenomenal six months.
“When we won for the second time, I was really keen to share some of that luck with South Powys Mind to acknowledge the amazing work they do right across the region.
“Our first win enabled me to return to education and qualify as a pluralistic practitioner and EMDR therapist, and soon after I joined South Powys Mind.
“I have been a therapist here for over a year and every week see firsthand how they provide support to the town as well as the wider rural community.”
South Powys Mind said it was “over the moon” with the support.
Marie Davies, CEO at South Powys Mind, said, “We support people in the community to manage their own mental health and wellbeing by offering a wide range of individual services, groups, courses, activities and development opportunities, to ensure that whatever the issue someone may be facing, we are able to help.
“These Lotto winners offering to help us has been an absolute treat. Their efforts and their generosity towards our charity has been incredible.
“The support of The National Lottery makes a huge difference to the work we are able to do but, on a grassroots level, winners rolling up their sleeves to give our Wellbeing Centre a new look will make such a difference to our service users, staff and volunteers and we’re over the moon.”
The charity, formerly Brecon and District Mind, has received £399,881 in National Lottery funding, including a recent £98,853 award for its Cynefin Project.
