A DRIVER managed to escape his vehicle just moments before it was destroyed by fire on the side of the main A470.
The car had been travelling on the trunk road, between Erwood and Llyswen, when the fire broke out.
Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police’s Brecon Roads Policing Unit said: "The driver luckily managed to pull off the A470 near Llyswen just before it fully caught alight."
The incident happened just before 3pm on Thursday, July 5 and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Talgarth and Builth Wells to the scene.
They used two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatuses and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
Police thanked motorists who were delayed due to the fire and the car’s recovery.
