PUPILS at Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary School took part in World Book Day at the start of the month by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

The pupils were allowed to choose figures from both factual and fictional books and showed great imagination by dressing up as the likes of Wally from the Where’s Wally? books, a suffragette, the lion and the witch from C S Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Woody from Toy Story, Stig from Top Gear, an Avenger and Leigh Halfpenny, the Wales rugby player.

Besides dressing up as their heroes, the children also spent the last Friday before half term reading stories to each other and sharing character experiences as well as engaging in literacy-based activities devised by the staff.

A spokesperson from the school said that the day had been great fun and had helped to enthuse the pupils to read even more books.
