A two-day festival celebrating music, nature, culture and outdoor activities is returning to the Elan Valley this weekend.

Elan Fest 2026 will take place at Elan Valley Visitor Centre on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, from 9am to 5pm.

The festival is free to attend, with a programme of additional activities and experiences available for a small charge.

Visitors will be able to enjoy live music from local artists including Owen Shiers, Marc Harpham, Kidd Raven and The Outlaws of Babylon, alongside an artisan market featuring local food, crafts and produce.

A range of outdoor activities will also be available, including guided kayaking sessions on the reservoir, archery, forest bathing, orienteering and bike hire.

There will also be planetarium sessions celebrating the Elan Valley's International Dark Sky Park status, as well as a Welsh learners' guided walk and yoga sessions at Pen y Garreg Dam.

Families can enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle, Ozzy horse and carriage rides and woodland trails throughout the weekend.

One of the highlights will be the chance to step inside the iconic Pen y Garreg Dam as part of a special Dam Open Day.

Visitors can learn more about the engineering behind the dam and how it continues to supply water to Birmingham more than a century after it was built.

Pre-booking for the dam tours is advised.

Dogs will also be in the spotlight on Sunday, with a Fun Family Dog Show giving visitors' pets the chance to compete for the title of King or Queen of the Valley.

There are eight categories, including Cutest Puppy, Junior Handler, Terrific Trick and Golden Oldie.

Entry costs £3 per dog and must be booked in advance.
