NEW figures showing the unemployment rate in Brecon and Radnorshire is just above one per cent have been welcomed by Chris Davies MP.

The Conservative MP said: "The latest unemployment figures show the hard work which many constituents are putting in to be economically active.
"While I would like to see the figure reduced to zero, I am proud that once again our area has the lowest level of unemployment in Wales – for the eleventh month running."
Figures for August show there were 364 people claiming unemployment benefit in Brecon and Radnorshire, which is 1.2% of the population. 105 claimants of were aged 18 to 24, a near 13 percent reduction from August 2015.
Mr Davies called the figures "evidence" of the success of having a majority Conservative government in Westminster and said it had backed rural areas as the "unsung job creators of our country". He said the Welsh Government should follow its lead.
