Following the huge success of The Masked Singer at Strand Hall last October, organisers Marc Williams and Jan Healey are delighted to bring another spectacular evening of entertainment to Brecon with A Night at the Musicals. The event will take place at Plough Chapel, Brecon, on Friday, 1 May, starting at 7.00pm.
The performance will feature past and present members of Brecknock Young Farmers Clubs, showcasing an exciting programme of well‑known and much‑loved musical theatre numbers.
The evening will be compered by junior members of Brecknock, adding an extra element of enthusiasm and community spirit to the event. The evening has been organised as part of Brecknock Royal Welsh Feature County fundraising, with proceeds also supporting the charity 2Wish, one of Brecknock YFC County Chair Samuel Powells’ chosen charities.
2Wish supports families affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young adult aged 25 or under, ensuring they receive the bereavement support they need during the most devastating of times.
The evening’s raffle will raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, in support of Erin Lois Coyle, who is running the Newport 10K on Sunday, 19 April. Erin, a member of Builth Wells YFC, faced life‑changing news just a week before her 17th birthday on 21st March 2025, when she underwent three major, life‑saving operations to remove a brain tumour. Organisers Marc Williams and Jan Healey commented: “We wish Erin every success as she takes on this incredible challenge.”
Audiences can look forward to a fantastic selection of solo performances from hit shows including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Waitress, Grease, Evita, Wicked, The Little Mermaid, Six and Oklahoma. There will also be group numbers from The Greatest Showman, Rent, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Blood Brothers, The Phantom of the Opera, And Juliet, Six and My Fair Lady, Abba and Les Misérables.
There will also be a first live performance of the theme song from The Kindling. This will be the second full length musical written and composed by past Builth Wells Young Farmers Club member, Elwyn Davies, and is based on a lost Iron Age story from the Borderlands settlements between Powys and Brycheiniog.
Nine young farmers clubs will be taking part including: Builth Wells, Brecon, Erwood, Libanus, Llandefalle, Pontfaen, Sennybridge, Trecastle and Troedrhiwdalar, making this a true celebration of local talent from across the county.
Music for the evening will be provided by Rev Michael Hodgson and the band The Pits, led by Roger Smith, with professional lighting enhancing the experience and creating a fantastic atmosphere for performers and audience alike.
Tickets are available by contacting Marc Williams on 07867 636 969 or Jan Healey on 07970 761 181, or alternatively, tickets can be purchased from The Strand Café, Builth Wells.
Organisers Marc Williams and Jan Healey said: “This promises to be a fabulous night of music not to be missed. We hope you can join us.”
