On Sunday, 22 March, The Mid Wales Rhythm and Blues Club will host a grammy nominated, Blues Award winner harmonica virtuoso.

Mark Hummel and his harmonica, along with Bob Hall on keys, and Dave Peabody on acoustic guitar will wow The Muse in Brecon next month.

Hummel is considered to be one of the best ever to play the instrument by Blues Revue. Primarily an exponent of American Blues, he has played with the likes of Charles Brown, Charlie Musselwhite, Lowell Fulson, Billy Boy Arnold, Carey Bell, Lazy Lester, Brownie McGhee, John Mayall, Eddie Taylor, Luther Tucker and Jimmy Rogers.

He started playing harmonica in 1970 and has made over thirty recordings since 1985, including the Grammy nominated 2013 release Blind Pig recording Remembering Little Walter (part of the Blues Harmonica Blowout CD series).

American musician and singer, Billy Boy Arnold said about Mark Hummel: “Mark Hummel is one of the very top notch guys on the Blues Harmonica scene today. He’s a great traditional player.”

Mark Hummel travels the world and through his music the world he travels comes to Mid Wales.

Bob Hall on keys has spent a lifetime playing music with the giants of American and English musicians. He has played with Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac, Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, and the legendary Alexis Korner who gave Eric Clapton and several others his first big musical break.
