On Saturday, 6 June, Christ College Brecon will be hosting their fifth Mountain Challenge event sponsored this year by Velocity Fitness and John Pearce Transport. The Mountain Challenge is a charity event that is open to all outdoor enthusiasts to walk or run, and has become a popular fixture within the local community and surrounding areas.

The event aims to raise awareness and funds for the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team and the Christ College Brecon Foundation. The Head of Christ College, Mr Pearson said: “I am really looking forward to joining colleagues, parents, and both current and former pupils on this year’s 13-mile route, especially as it marks my final year as Head.

“It is a wonderful event that raises vital funds for the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team and the important work they do, while also helping us to continue providing scholarships and bursaries to pupils who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to attend the school. I look forward to seeing everyone out in the beautiful Brecon Beacons!”

Open to all, the Mountain Challenge provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the breath-taking landscape of the Brecon Beacons, whether your local to the area, or visiting from further afield. With three distinct routes to choose from – a low level 10-mile route suitable for walking or running, a higher level 13-mile route and a challenging 26-mile route covering Pen y Fan, Corn Ddu and Fan y Big – there’s something for everyone, regardless of age or skill level.

Brecon Mountain Rescue will oversee checkpoints along the routes, ensuring event safety, with additional support from Fabian4, a specialised mountain event company that will handle individual tracking and keep records of competitor timings.
