TALYBONT-ON-USK schoolboy Cellan Vaughan became an entrepreneur for the day, raising more than £140 for Comic Relief.

The 11-year-old set up a stall outside the village store selling cakes, which he baked and decorated himself, priced at 50p per cake. He also sold cakes donated by members of his family and ran a guess the number of sweets in the jar competition, charging people £1 to enter.

He ran the stall for four hours on Sunday morning after approaching the shop owner for a place to set up his stall. In total he raised £141.37. Proud dad Gary Vaughan said: “Many customers commented on how wonderful the idea was and that he was prepared to give up so much of his time for such an excellent cause.

“Customers found him humorous and an absolute tonic and inspiration and chuckled at his market trader approach.”
