A brand new app has launched to help visitors navigate their way around the Elan Valley.
Elan Links launched the ‘Elan Valley App’ last weekend, which give visitors the chance to experience the area’s unique history and landscape as they move around the estate.
Features of the app include:
• Historic sites and ancient monuments, including a Roman Marching Camp, Medieval Pillow Mounds and a Lead Mine
• Fascinating ‘now and then’ sliders for a number of Elan Valley hotspots
• Walking, cycling and driving trails with details of length and access, including a heritage car audio trail narrated by Welsh actor Llion Williams
• Interactive treasure hunt exploring some of the features in Elan Valley
Scheme manager Eluned Lewis said: “The app is an important tool for people wishing to explore and discover more about the heritage of the Elan Valley.
“We are really looking forward to seeing people of all ages using it and discovering more about the valley.”
The Elan Valley App is a product of Elan Links, a National Lottery Heritage Fund scheme to secure and celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of this wonderful area.
The app, which has been directly funded by Arwain Powys Leader funding, works from a GPS signal.
Once downloaded onto a smart phone gives visitors a richer experience of the Elan Valley area, encouraging them to explore the whole 72-mile site and discover histories that go back as far as 79 AD.
