The motorcyclist killed in a head-on collision between Halfway and Trecastle has been named as Matthew King.
Matthew, from the Brackla area of Bridgend, was out riding his motorcycle with his fiancée on Wednesday, March 23 when he was involved in the collision with another vehicle.
A member of Bridgend Judokwai from the age of seven, he went on to become club chairman and coach. His was also a Commonwealth Masters medallist, British Masters medallist and BJC national veteran champion.
Matthew was the store manager at Topps Tiles in Bridgend and was passionate about raising money for the Help for Heroes charity, and donated blood at every opportunity. His charity adventures included skydiving and a four-day coast-to-coast mountain bike ride.
A tribute to him said: "Matthew was a loveable rogue whose tragic death leaves a deep void with everyone who knew him, family and friends feel both proud and privileged to have had the good grace of knowing Matthew and having him in their lives.
"Whilst today has been a terribly sad day for all that knew Matt, every one of us has a big smile to go with the many tears, which is testimony to the impact he had on us."
