The Albert Hall, in Llandrindod Wells, recently had a special visit from two well-known Welsh celebrities.

Strictly Come Dancing star, Amy Dowden, and presenter and singer, Aled Jones, dropped in to meet the theatre team as part of a new television show.

The pair were filming for S4C’s ‘Iaith ar Daith’, and visited ‘Mid Wales’ Oldest Theatre’ to learn more about its history.

Local Welsh speaker, Mai Ellis, welcomed them to the theatre, and spoke to them in Welsh about how the Albert Hall got its name, before offering the pair further history and information about the iconic venue.

‘Iaith ar Daith’ was shown on Sunday, May 15, 8pm, on S4C, and is available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.

The Albert Hall would like to thank everyone involved in the production of the episode, and sends a special thanks to Mai Ellis for her help, and for speaking to Aled and Amy fluently in Welsh.

‘Iaith Ar Daith’ takes one celebrity, and one Welsh-speaking mentor who is also a well-known face, to different areas of Wales in order to learn a little bit more of the language – and there’s always several challenges along the way.
