Around 30 tractors and vintage machines, including an AEC Mercury lorry, took centre stage at Nantmel Show on Saturday, September 27, delighting enthusiasts and visitors alike.

It was a case of déjà vu for Rob Gore as he retained the Owain Micah Memorial Shield for the best restored vintage tractor, showcasing his restored International B275 complete with a Wild Thwaites spreader. The tractor also took top honours as the best restored vintage machine, with John Drew of Gwystre finishing second for his Ferguson saw bench.

The best original vintage tractor went to Gwystre’s Keith Williams, whose Radnorshire-registered Ferguson retained its original paintwork, narrowly beating Mark Thomas’ Massey Ferguson 35X. Pete Harris took third place with his Ferguson.
Keith’s tractor, fitted with a Ferguson fertilizer spinner, also placed second in the best original vintage machine category behind Matthew Morgan’s Viking Acrobat rake, with Mike Chandler claiming third for Nick Powell’s Fowell dumper.

In the classic tractor category, Saint Harmon residents took home the top honours in both classes.
Raymond Rees won best restored classic tractor with his County 1174, while his neighbour Andrew Thomas claimed best original classic tractor for his Massey Ferguson 590 four-wheel drive.

Meanwhile Mark Thomas was named runner-up in the restored classic class with his David Brown 995.
Newcomers Adam Lewis and son took second place in the original classic category with their Zetor 7211, followed by Hundred House’s Mervyn Price with his BMC Mini in third.
The Nantmel Show & Sports is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September at Maes-y-gelli Farm, Nantmel, just off the A44.
In 1977, Nantmel Community Council organised a Silver Jubilee Show and Sports. Its success led to the formation of the Nantmel Show Committee, which held the first official Annual Nantmel Show in 1978.
