Gladestry hosted its 86th annual Sheepdog Trials recently, held by kind permission of the Watson family, with competitors braving inclement weather to showcase their skills.
Handlers travelled from across the UK - and beyond - including Yuval Shirksy from Israel, who impressed by finishing a creditable sixth place.
The Open class was won by Eirian Morgan, a regular supporter of the event, while Ed Powell retained his Farmers Class title after fending off a challenge from his brother Haydn. Richard Jones claimed victory in the Parishes Class.
Organisers for the event have thanked those who made the Gladestry Sheepdog Trials possible, which includes the judge Mike Edwards from Swansea, the chief sheep steward James Bowen, the catering lead Carolyn, the timekeepers Viv and Norman, and the trial committee, which was praised as one of the best in Wales.
This year’s trials also supported charity, with £1,000 raised to be shared between Blood Bikes Wales, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex), the Dialysis Unit at Llandrindod Hospital, and St Michael’s Hospice.

In the Open National class, Eirian Morgan of Tregaron took first place with Fly, followed by Venn Davies of Builth with Pam in second, and Meirion Jones of Llanarthne with Maddie in third.
In the Novice National class, Erinna Rogers of Elan Valley claimed first with Glen, Sioned Evans of Tregaron came second with Roy, and Venn Davies of Builth secured third place with Joy.
In the Farmers Class, Ed Powell of Llanfiangel retained his title with Mac, his brother Haydn Powell finished second with Big Bob, and Richard Jones of Llanyfelin completed the podium in third with Spot.
Even in wet conditions, the Gladestry Sheepdog Trials remained a standout event on the local calendar, showcasing top-class competition alongside support for good causes.
