FIREFIGHTERS in Llandrindod Wells received their first call to a fire in 10 days and then found it was because of burnt toast.

Two fire engines raced from the town’s fire station to a nearby sheltered housing complex after the alarm was raised just after 4.30pm on Thursday, February 21.

A spokeswoman for the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews discovered the alarm had been sparked by cooking or burnt toast when they arrived at the address and no further action was required.

Llandrindod Fire Station joked on its @LlandodFire Twitter account: "Finally broke the duck, 10 days without a call...thought the system had developed a fault...the positive is everyone has been safe for the last 10 days."
