A flood alert has been issued for areas of north Radnorshire as heavy rain sweeps across Wales.

The flood alert comes with the recent Met Office yellow weather warning, the least severe type, for heavy rain which also affects areas of the county.

Knighton, Knucklas, Beguildy, Lloyney and the Felindre area are all covered by the yellow weather warning as well as the flood alert which covers the River Teme.

The flood alert does not cover the river’s offshoots such as Wylcwm Brook in Knighton or Ffrwdwen Brook in knucklas at the time of writing.

The Met Office yellow weather warning is in action from 2pm today and is predicted to last until around 4am on Friday.

The national weather service said residents should expect “spells of heavy and persistent rain which has the potential to bring flooding and disruption to transport in places.”

It also warned drivers to drive to the road conditions as there could be spray from surface water and flooding on some roads.

Commuters should expect potential delays to bus and train transport, however the transport companies which serve the affected areas have not announced any cancellations at the time of writing.
