SHE moved in days before her 100th birthday and this week Lily Williams celebrated turning 106 with friends from Cartref Care Home.
The former farmer from Clyro, who was still tending to the herds until she was in her 90s, celebrated six years at the care home and the landmark birthday on March 22.
The mother-of-three took on the farm after her husband Pryse died aged just 55 in 1960.
Daughter Cath Nixon, of Crossgates, near Llandrindod Wells, said: "Mum managed the farm then with the help of the family. My brother was 20 at the time and there was myself and my sister Joan.
"Mum lived at the farm until she was about 98 and then moved into the home at Hay.
"She would help my brother Tom and was involved in the farm and knew all the business."
Before moving into the home great grandmother of six Lily had also been a member and regular worshipper at Bronwdd Chapel in Clyro.
Lily, who is originally from Dan y Capel, Llanigon, and Pryse, from Vrondee, Painscastle had been married for nearly 25 years at the time of his death.
They had bought the farm in Clyro, which was originally part of the Clyro estate, after initially moving in as tenant farmers.
The family had a get together at Cartref for Lily’s birthday.
