Free events to celebrate carers are being held throughout Powys this week.

Carers Week started today, which is supported in Powys by Credu – a charity which supports carers and helps them to connect with other carers.

The charity has organised events to treat those who care for loved ones as part of the UK-wide week which looks to celebrate carers.

An information stand is being held today at Tesco in Ystradgynlais until 5pm.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11, there is a coffee and information morning at The Guildhall in Brecon from 10am until 1pm, as well as a coffee and raising awareness morning at County Hall in Llandrindod Wells from 12pm until 2pm.

On Wednesday there will be a pamper day at The Manor in Crickhowell from 10am until 3pm as well as an information stand at The Co-Operative in Builth Wells from 10am until 4pm.

On Thursday there is a pamper day at The Metropole in Llandrindod from 10am until 3pm and on Friday there is the opening of the Ystradgynlais Hub from 10am until 3pm.

Carers can gain free access to Buskagynlais all day on Saturday in Ystradgynlais and there will also be a pop-up picnic in Llandrindod from 10am until 4pm on Saturday.

A spokesman from Credu, which is also funded by Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board, said: “It’s celebrating people who look after someone special in their lives.

“All those spouses who look after their husband or wife with serious illness, those parents who’s child is sick or disabled, children who look after sick parents or their spouses etc. The best of humanity.”

Carers who are interested in attending the events should call the charity, which organised the events and free access for carers to the already existing Buskagynlais, on 01597 823800.
