A WELSH Assembly Member has been criticised after suggesting children should use their fingerprints to pay for schools meals.
Mid and West Wales AM Joyce Watson said she wanted schools to use a cashless system so that children from low income homes aren't stigmatised for receiving free school meals.
The Labour AM told a Senedd debate that cashless meal systems for all pupils, which use either biometric readings or swipe cards to register payment, are the best way of ensuring that pupils who receive free school meals cannot be identified by their free dinner tokens.
