On September 24, independent, family-owned business The Old Railway Line Garden Centre raised £642 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now that restrictions in Wales have eased, The Old Railway Line are able to put on their well-loved events once again.

After only announcing they would be doing a Macmillan Cake and Coffee morning just four days before, the Restaurant and Tea Room, both located within the Garden Centre, found they had an impressive footfall during the hours of the event.

From the cake and coffee sales along with raffle ticket sales taken on entrance to the Garden Centre, they managed to raise an incredible £642.

From the hours of 10am – 4pm, the Railway Restaurant and the Dog-Friendly Tea Room were serving a ‘Macmillan Coffee Morning Combo’ which included a hot drink and a slice of one of their freshly baked cakes.

Shaunagh Cleary, Catering Director and daughter of founders Mark and Christina Cleary, said: “It was great to be able to get back into fundraising in our catering areas. We’re thrilled to have been able to raise so much for Macmillan. It’s the first fundraiser event we’ve done since 2019. It’s been amazing to open back up and now raise such a brilliant amount for a charity we admire.

“The team had lots of fun on the day and are really looking forward to putting on more events and fundraisers in the coming months.”

The team at The Old Railway Line Garden Centre are looking forward to hosting more events and charity evenings; some that quickly sold out and others which are being announced soon, all coming up this year and feature heavily in the catering areas.
