Verification of the ballot boxes has been completed and counting is underway.12.41Staff are checking the last box - and the actual counting of the votes is expected to start in around half an hour.11.59pmAll the boxes from Brecon and Radnorshire have now been returned to the count centre - but staff are still going through the process of checking them.11.25pm Labour's Dan Lodge says he isn't getting carried away with the exit poll. He said: "It is very interesting and we're going to have a very interesting evening. We are miles and miles away from the Conservatives wiping Labour off the map, in Wales, which they said at the start of the campaign. "It was a wholly unnecessary election called for the Conservatives political convenience and it looks like it backfired. "But it is too soon to say and I'm sceptical of the exit poll as it doesn't take account of postal votes." Labour candidate Dan Lodge arrived at the count shortly after 10pm while Plaid Cymru's Kate Heneghan was the first candidate to arrive. She said: "The exit poll is quite interesting we will have to wait and see if that is true. I think it's going to be a long night in lots of places but it is quite interesting." Asked what she expects to happen in Brecon and Radnorshire Mrs Heneghan said: "It's too early to say." The Conservative Party looks set to fall short of an overall majority, according to an exit poll for broadcasters.
The poll is predicting the Conservatives will be 12 short of an overall majority but still the largest party in the House of Commons with 314 MPs while Labour are predicted to win 34 additional seats to have 266.
The Liberal Democrats are predicted to win six more seats, taking their total to 14, and Plaid Cymru are expected to remain unchanged on three. The SNP are predicted to lose some 20 seats and be left with 34 MPs.
At the Brecon and Radnorshire count, at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd, ballot boxes from across the two counties are arriving. Council staff are currently verifying the ballot boxes as they arrive at the counting centre.
Keeping checking back as we’ll update throughout the night.
