Volunteers, business owners, and councillors celebrated Llanwrtyd Wells’ success in this year’s Wales in Bloom competition on Friday, November 28, at the town’s Heritage Centre.

Lead organisers Georgie Perrett and Lynn Ball thanked everyone who helped the town secure a Gold Award for its floral displays and local environment management.

The Wales in Bloom judge visited the town in July, but the results were not announced until October 3 at the presentation ceremony in Wrexham. Llanwrtyd won a Gold Award in the Village category, based on population, with its “Green Events” theme. The town also achieved top honours of Outstanding for Dolwen Field and the Railway Station, both entered in the It’s Your Neighbourhood category.

The judge highlighted the community spirit and passion: “Llanwrtyd Wells has a splendid show of colourful and sustainable plantings and encourages and empowers the local community, organisations and businesses to get involved to florally enhance the village. The various activities on show in Llanwrtyd Wells were very inspirational and a big shout is required here for the teams of gardening volunteers. Their enthusiasm, synergy, respect and ability to plant in a cohesive way is outstanding.”

Everyone involved is proud of the achievement, with special congratulations to Lynn and Georgie, who have worked tirelessly over the years to reach this goal.
