When Eric and Liz Tadd of Pentrefelin, Sennybridge were approaching their golden wedding anniversary, they wanted to celebrate it with family and friends.
But, instead of gifts for themselves, they wanted to support Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, made up of unpaid volunteers who respond to around 100 call outs each year to help people who find themselves in some difficulty and life threatening situations.
The golden wedding celebrations included a function and concert from Aberhonddu choir, the three tenors and solo performances by Wynne Rees and Helen Jones. Family and friends gathered to join in the celebrations and all donated to the couples cause and this raised a sum of £865.50.
Kevin Harding of Brecon MRT said he was overwhelmed by the donation, which will help with the operational costs of around £40,000. The team has to rely mainly on public donations and this was the first ever donation as a result of a golden wedding celebration.
Brecon Mountain Rescue Team has thanked the Tadds for their support and all their family and friends who donated.
