New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Powys’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

Artisans Coffee Shop, at The Old Saw Mill, Llanwddyn, Oswestry, Shropshire was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on December 6.

And CVS Retail Ltd - Shell Garage, at Buttington Cross Service Station, Buttington Cross Enterprise Park, Buttington, Welshpool was also given a score of five on December 1.

It means that of Powys's 407 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 280 (69%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
