The Green Man Festival is pledging thousands of pounds to support those in South Wales affected by flooding, in the wake of Storm Dennis.

Green Man Trust are offering £5,000 to the cause and an extra £5,000 has been donated by the Green Man Festival, and they are appealing for more donations to help Green Man support affected Welsh communities in their recovery and clean-up effort.

Fiona Stewart, director and owner of Green Man Festival and chair of Green Man Trust, said: “Seeing the destruction of the recent storms in South Wales is truly devastating but in true Welsh style everyone has really pulled together, which is why we decided to run this appeal to help our communities.

“We’re putting in a total of £10,000 to get it started and any other donations are massively appreciated.”

The appeal has raised over £7,000 so far with a target to achieve £15,000.

A multi-million pound emergency fund to deal with the immediate impact of the storms was announced yesterday by First Minister Mark Drakeford.

The Welsh Government is working with councils to get a clearer picture of the scale of the damage, which will determine the total amount of additional funding needed. Up to £10m will be made available for the initial response.

The emergency flood relief scheme will be set up within the next week to ensure that those affected by the storms will get financial help as quickly as possible.

The funding will support people whose houses have been damaged by the storms, businesses impacted by the storms, local authorities dealing with clean-up costs, and urgent infrastructure repairs such as damaged roads and bridges. To make a donation to the Green Man's appeal visit https://wonderful.org/appeal/supportwelshcommunitiesaffectedbystormdennis-d7ff6e20
