Overnight closures are set to begin on a key stretch of the A40 near Crickhowell, as the Welsh Government prepares essential roadworks.
The temporary traffic order, in effect from February 23 to May 15, will close the road between Standard Street and the Manor Hotel access from 7pm to 7am. Emergency vehicles and work traffic will be allowed through, but all other users must follow a lengthy diversion. Eastbound traffic will be redirected west towards Brecon before looping south on the A470 to Merthyr Tydfil, heading east on the A465 to Abergavenny, and rejoining the A40 to return to the eastern side of the closure. Westbound drivers will follow the same route in reverse.
Pedestrians and cyclists will not have a dedicated route but will be escorted safely through the site when possible.
The order will remain valid for up to 18 months to allow flexibility for weather or rescheduled work, with any changes clearly signposted.
