ARMED police provided extra security in the wake of the the terror attacks as Brecon hosted its annual Gurkhas Freedom Parade.
Hundreds of people joined the town’s Gurkhas and their families to celebrate the 32nd parade in the town.
The Nepalese branch of soldiers have served with the British Army since 1815, although it is thought that they first came to serve in Brecon in 1974. The parade involved an inspection of the troops which was carried out by Brecon’s mayor Cllr Ieuan Williams, the Lord Lieutenant of Powys Dame Shan Legge-Bourke, the ambassador for Nepal his excellency Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and Colonel J. G. Robinson.
