The group working to return a beloved pub to its former glory has thanked the community for its support during several events over the Christmas period.
The team looking to return the Radnor Arms Hotel in New Radnor to life has thanked everyone who came to the pub’s pre-Christmas public consultation open days, its fundraising art exhibition and its community tea and cake sharing.
They would also like to thank everyone who took part in its online auction, by bidding or donating items and experiences, or contributing to its crowdfunding website on JustGiving, which remains open.
More than 350 people visited the Radnor Arms Hotel over the four days of public consultation at the end of November and beginning of December, coming from near and far to take part.
Visitors flocked from the Radnor Forest and Radnor Valley, nearby Kington and Presteigne, Builth and Llandrindod Wells. They were joined by those from Symonds Yat, Birmingham, the West Midlands and London.
At least 95 people are to be thanked for their role in organising and contributing to the open days and exhibition.
The online auction raised £5,305, with the highest bidding days being the third day and the final day. The auction site received over 9,250 page views and the website received over 730 page views from 240 viewers.
Just under £120,000 has been pledged for Community Shares in The Radnor Arms Community Benefit Society Limited, with a further £30,000 of capacity still available for those who are interested before the £150,000 cap on the value that can be Enterprise Investment Scheme-able. Community Shares are priced at £25 each.

The Radnor Arms Hotel first closed in 2016 and fell into a state of disrepair. The Radnor Arms Action Group has now purchased the pub and hopes the pub can be transformed back into an asset for the local community.
On January 25, for a week, the Community Shop in Kington will sell items to raise further funds to pay for the purchase and repair of the Radnor Arms Hotel. Everyone is invited to shop and/or offer clean and saleable items.
The Community Shop in Kington is on the left-hand side, heading west up the High Street. Details can be found at www.theradnorarmshotel.com/events.html
A photo competition has also been launched, to produce photos of the area around New Radnor at the end of each month. The photos are for a 2024 calendar which will be available for sale in the autumn of 2023. Details can be found at www.theradnorarmshotel.com/photo-appeal.html
To have your say on the future of the Radnor Arms Hotel, an online questionnaire has been opened. The deadline to complete the questionnaire, which will help shape plans for the pub, is January 20, 2023.
The questionnaire, which represents the first round of consultation, will remain open after that date, but it is hoped that answers might be gathered soon so that insight can inform plans and work can begin. The questionnaire can be found at www.theradnorarmshotel.com/survey-questionnaire.html
