Hay-on-Wye will be welcoming printers, bookbinders and papermakers from across the UK for a Winter Wayzgoose at The Story of Books.
From 10am-3pm on Saturday (November 24), there will be tabletop stalls selling books and prints, and printing presses (including one on a printing bike) set up for visitors to print their own Christmas card for just £2.50 each. There will also be live folk music, ‘Printer’s Pie’ and glühwein.
At 6pm there is a launch of The Charm of Magpies, a beautifully illustrated book from private press, Incline Press, and The Rhona Muirhead Prize for printing, in honour of Rhona Muirhead, who lived in Clyro for many years and was one of the small group that founded the Hay Festival.
There is also the opportunity to see two exhibitions at The Story of Books: #NoWords - a celebration of wordless picture books, featuring a collection of more than 200 books, and 250 years of John Murray Press, that will introduce our new Four o’Clock Friends programme of events.
Winter Wayzgooze, 10am-3pm, Saturday 24 November at The Story of Books, 20 Castle Street, Hay HR3 5DF.
