Llandeilo was once again the settingor the Heart of Wales Road Run on Sunday, May 17, as a convoy of classic lorries gathered on Station Road, drawing interest from onlookers of all ages.
Owners travelled from across the UK, including Herefordshire, Shropshire, Powys, Staffordshire and West Wales, to take part in the annual event celebrating historic trucks.
The run began on Friday with a meandering run through Carmarthenshire, Powys and Merthyr Tydfil. Highlights included the Black Mountain road via Brynamman, stops in Ystradgynlais and Glynneath, and a visit to the Brecon Mountain Railway, where participants enjoyed a steam train ride. The return journey took in the Storey Arms, Brecon and Llandovery before arriving back in Llandeilo.
On Saturday, the convoy travelled along the A40 to Narberth to visit Mason Brothers’ premises.
The main run got under way at 11am on Sunday, as the assembled trucks set off through Llandeilo, passing the colourful houses and crossing the River Towy towards Ffairfach, before continuing through Llanarthney, Llangunnor and Carmarthen.

From there, the convoy headed down the A40 to St Clears before turning towards Laugharne and Pendine. At the beach, famous for its links to early land speed record attempts in the 1920s, the trucks lined up on the sands and drew crowds of beachgoers.

After a lunch stop, the convoy retraced its route back through Laugharne, St Clears and Carmarthen, with a short detour to visit AJT Recycling, before returning to Llandeilo.
