A special presentation was also made to acting headteacher Tracey Gibbs by chair of Governors David Meredith, to thank her for everything she had done for the school in recent times.
Speaking after the event Ms Gibbs said: “The atmosphere was amazing.
“Everybody had really made an effort with their outfits and looked wonderful, and there was a real air of anticipation as the winners were revealed.
“I want to congratulate all the pupils who won awards this year and hope that this evening has inspired them to try to achieve a multitude of star prizes by the time they leave Brecon High School.”
Parent and governor Chris Pierce said: “Thanks to Tracey and all of the staff and students for a wonderful Star Awards evening.
“I felt very proud as a parent and as a governor.
“It provided another example of how the staff really care about the students and the Brecon High School community.”
The Star awards were held on Tuesday, July 17. Prizes were funded by the Old Boys Association and presented by Colin Lewis, president of the association.
