A NEW nursery focused on providing a unique outdoor learning experience is set to open in Howey, near Llandrindod Wells.

Ashfield Outdoor Nursery will be a place where childcare meets the great outdoors. Children who attend the nursery will spend the majority of their time outside, surrounded by nature, exploring leafy dells, experiencing the elements, clambering over trees, playing in muddy puddles and cooking on an open fire.

This will be the first outdoor nursery in Wales, despite a growing interest in outdoor play and an understanding of its benefits. There are numerous outdoor nursery settings already in operation in England and Scotland.

Following the submission of Create Plays application to The Care Inspectorate Wales Ashfield Outdoor Nursery looks set to lead the way.

Ashfield Outdoor Nursery will open at Ashfield Community Enterprise in spring 2018. An open day for parents along with their little ones to get a taste of what the nursery has to offer is being held in March, details will be released shortly on Create Play’s website www.createplay.co.uk and social media.
