THREE friends took part in a gruelling challenge for charity earlier this summer to conquer 49 miles of the Epynt Way.Huw Evans from Pen y Cae near Ystadgynlais, who works for Landmarc Support Services as a rural supervisor, work colleague David Newbury from Scethrog, near Brecon, and friend and fellow hiker Lawrence Arms from Hereford, set off on June 22 on the course across the Epynt Way, in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance, with Landmarch Support Services colleague, Charlton Slack, following close behind in a support vehicle. The 49 mile hike saw the trio leave from Llywel at 4am on the morning of June 22 and whilst David and Lawrence were both forced to retire early after sustaining knee injuries, Huw solidered on and finished the trek in 18 hours, 35 minutes, a feat unsurpassed by any other walker on the Epynt Way.
