On Tuesday the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was investigating the cause of the fire.

The brigade deployed five pumps, a water browser, an aerial ladder platform and an unmanned aerial vehicle to the incident. Firefighters extinguished the fire using 19 breathing apparatus, five hose reel jets, two main jets and thermal imaging cameras.

Neil Evans, head of response in Powys, praised the efforts of the retained firefighters.

He said: "I would like to commend the efforts of our crews, who worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further through the property.

"An incident of this kind highlights the important role of on-call firefighters in protecting our communities.

"Within Powys, all our stations are crewed by on-call firefighters. These people are an essential part of the emergency services network, they come from all walks of life and most hold a career outside of the Fire Service, but they all share the enthusiasm to serve their communities as firefighters."
