Talented 10-year-old photographer, from Llandrindod Wells, Jamie Smart, has won the 10 & Under category in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
Jamie’s win was announced at the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards ceremony at the Natural History Museum in London last week.
The awards have been running for 61 years and showcase the very best in wildlife photography.
The judges for the award selected 100 images from 60,363 entries from all over the world, and the talented Jamie had three chosen in the top 100. Jamie’s three images were: one of a stag called ‘Rutting Call,’ one of a grasshopper called Morning Hopper, and lastly her spider image called 'Weaver's Lair' which soon became the overall winner.

Upon receiving the award, Jamie made an acceptance speech. She wrote a poem for it which gained her the first ever standing ovation for a category win speech in the history of the competition.
Jamie told The Brecon & Radnor Express: "I am over the moon! To have one image selected is an absolute thrill, but to have three selected and one of those being a winner is completely mind blowing. I am so, so happy!
"I learned about the competition when I was 7-years-old and since then I had dreamed of getting to be a part of it and getting to be at the award ceremony at the museum under Hope the Blue Whale. To actually be there was such a special moment for me, I cannot thank the judges enough for selecting my images.
"I am pleased that a spider has won too... they are often overlooked and misunderstood creatures, but I love them and think they are fascinating creatures that play an essential role in life on our planet."

Jamie’s love for wildlife and photography started from an early age, using her father’s camera, and since then she has won multiple awards and travelled around the world taking on exciting opportunities.
Jamie also goes by the name Eagle Eyed Girl, and runs her own YouTube channel dedicated to wildlife and photography.
She recently became a patron for the Cuan Wildlife Rescue charity, alongside Dame Joanna Lumley.
