THOUSANDS of music lovers came to Brecon last weekend for two separate festivals - Brecon Jazz and Brecon Fringe. Major stars of jazz and world music including Allen Toussaint, Monty Alexander and Courtney Pine headlined at this year's Brecon Jazz alongside the likes of Sara Mitra, Phronesis, Led Bib, and Aquarium.

Spread across Brecon Fringe Festival this year were acts as diverse as double platinum album selling singer songwriter Newton Faulkner, indie sweethearts Henry's Funeral Shoe and flamenco dancer Josie Sinnadurai.

The hot gigs by many accounts were glam rockers She Tasted Good and rockabilly rebels Livestock Daives and the Lowdown Snakes.
