THE Brecon Jazz stakeholders group is due meet this week.
Brecon Town Council, which is a member of the group, agreed at an emergency meeting in December to call a meeting of the various bodies involved after the festival organisers pulled out.
At present there is no organisation appointed by the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) to stage a jazz festival in Brecon this August. ACW supports the event with around £100,000 funding.
Town council members were updated during a confidential session of the council meeting on Monday night.
During a discussion on the council’s planned spending, in the earlier public session of the meeting, Councillor Mark Morgan asked for confirmation £3,000 allocated as sponsorship to the Brecon Jazz Festival remained in the budget.
Mayor David Meredith confirmed money allocated to the jazz festival remained in the budget.
Following the meeting town clerk Fiona Williams confirmed the Brecon Jazz Stakeholder group is due to meet this week.
