Thrills, spills and good old traditional family fun is on offer when Kington and District Operatic Society present the pantomime Puss in Boots this month.
It will open with Jack and the Beanstalk performed by children and then the audience will be treated to a full traditional panto of Puss in Boots.
Jack the Miller’s son uses his last shilling to buy his cat some boots – suddenly he has the most fabulous talking cat. And with Puss to help him, just about anything is possible – even defeating the fearsome Ogre Grimgrab and marrying the princess.
The audiences should expect all of the traditional panto ingredients, plenty of song, laughter and audience participation – and some very dangerous killer rabbits.
The cast includes Rachael Redfern as Jack, Abbi Hollinghurst as the Princess, Dilys Hollinghurst as Puss, Jim Smith as the King, David Francis as the Queen and Cliff Spooner as Ogre Grimgrab.
Fairy Priscilla will be played by Rachelle King with Karen Spooner as Fairy Pernicia, Troy Malho-Sheffield is Bobbie, Jess Squire is Jasper, Rodney Bowdler is Jethro, Pam Arnold is Babs, and Jackie Turner is Betty. Mr Fluffy is played by Janet Boydell, Ann Dean is Mr Wigglenose, Pauline Bowles is Mr Cheekybottom, Lee Moore is Mr Floppy Ears and Myrna Smith is Millie.
The pantomime is produced by Lynne Owens and Lorna Firth is the musical director.
The accompanist is Kath Ainsworth, Helen Smith is in charge of sound effects and percussion and the choreography is by Dilys Hollinghurst.
Linda Ellams and Beresford Vaughan are in charge of scenery and backstage, Howard Owens does the lighting while Rachelle King looks after the wardrobe.
Bev Fensom is front of house, Pam Banks is in charge of the props and Margaret Evans is the prompt.
The pantomime by Ben Crocker will be on at Lady Hawkins Community Leisure Centre on Thursday, February 21, Friday, December 22 and Saturday, February 23 at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance on Saturday, February 23 at 2.30pm.
