On Thursday August 7th, my husband, a fit 82-year-old, was walking along the pavement on the Bulwark, just opposite the Wellington Hotel.
Suddenly, a dog, completely out of control, having been into various shop doorways, streaked across the pavement and its lead caught my husband's ankles, tripped him up and he fell heavily, flat on the pavement.
This was witnessed by several shocked witnesses. The woman, presumably the dog's owner, looked back on the scene, and carried on walking, with the dog still on a long lead.
As my husband was badly shaken, with bruised and sore ribs, shoulder, wrists and knees, the doctor prescribed strong painkillers.
Let this be a warning to all dog owners: please control your dogs on streets and pavements. This accident could have been far more serious, and most certainly could have been avoided.
