The Welsh Liberal Democrats have welcomed progress on long-awaited safety improvements to the A470, including the Pontybat junction.
A detailed study nearing completion is assessing immediate safety upgrades and reevaluating the potential for the installation of a roundabout at the junction.
Due to funding secured through this year’s Senedd budget deal, a package of low-cost, high-impact safety measures will move ahead in 2025/26. This includes design work and possible early implementation. The measures will be monitored after installation to guide any further engineering work needed.
The party’s leader and Mid and West Wales MS Jane Dodds said the improvements were “a real win for local residents” and proof that the party’s influence in the Senedd is “delivering results.”
